Things I bought, things I want

As previously mentioned, I am trying to curb the shopping these days in an attempt to be fiscally responsible. But I did buy this sweater a few weeks ago, and adore it. It is—weirdly, cause it’s not un-bulky—kind of flattering, and the vertical stripes are just too good. And it’s alpaca, which I love the look of.

Right now this faux leather skirt is in my shopping bag over at Shopbop, and I’m thinking I might pull the trigger because it’s a pretty good shape and the price is right.

I think this is a very nearly perfect denim A-line skirt—the black feels more pulled-together for fall, and the buttons are really good.

This embroidered shirt is just so sweet.

I need a pair of nice shoes for my nephew’s Bar Mitzvah in October, and am wondering if I can get away with these, because they are so perfect.

I am still on a quest for a good metallic boot, and I like these because they look walkable, and ring in at just under $200.

Yes to the shoes, a big no to the faux-leather skirt.

Vertical stripes on sweaters (and jackets) are somehow always flattering.

Yes to the denim skirt, the faux leather one … I think you could find it elsewhere for less, if you MUST have it.

    That sweater is amazing…subversive.

Those shoes are fabulous. I will say that during my hunt for a denim skirt earlier this year, I tried a few with snaps and they would pop open anytime I changed positions! Not a good thing as I spend the day standing in front of 19-year-olds. I ended up with one in a similar shape to what you show here, only button-through instead of snaps.

Metallic boots that border on bronze, and not too shiny. Nice. I once had a pair of patent and bronze shoes that I wore to shreds. Bronze works with everything fall. Also booties are so wearable. Excellent choice. Not a go-go boot look.

Love those boots. Really, really love those boots.

I’d vote “no” on the faux leather skirt not because of the way it looks, but because it doesn’t look like you can walk in it.

    Also love the heels.

Not a fan of the faux leather skirt. Is it just me or does it hang awkwardly in the picture?

Big yes to the pleather skirt!
Although I would prefer leather it’s not a deal breaker.

YES buy the red shoes, they are amazing and will definitely go with anything.

I purchased these metallic booties last fall and they are really, really incredible. a more subtle shine to them, and they are super-comfortable.

Are you taking requests? I want to try my first platform sneaker but it has to be leather, not suede, so I can wear it on rainy weekends. I know you’ve done lots of sneaker posts, but perhaps you could do this version specifically? Thanks!

good for you – the 4.25 heels on the red pumps don’t scare you!
