Top 5 of the week: Cosmetic bags

I’ve been seeing some cute cosmetic bags lately, and I’m always on the lookout for them, as mine get so trashed so very easily. This one I am just dying for—it’s part of a Tsumori Chisato collab with Le Sportsac.

And here’s one in Strawberry Thief, a favorite print of mine.

This Marimekko pattern feels super-fresh.

The leopard print is just excellent, and a not-bad buy, too.

And of course: camo.

Cheap and chic of the week

There’s nothing I love like a big fat rugby stripe tee.

Nine bags big enough to carry your life in

We all have different ideas of what it means to carry around your life, and so some of the bags here are bigger than others. A few will fit your laptop, like this drawstring tote, which is new from Clare V. It comes in black too but I am of course obsessed with the pink.

I have wanted this bag from Kara for ages—I just love the simple, boxy shape.

A really well-priced, perfectly chic option.

Such a great summery bag; I love, love, love the color.

I like the army green here.

This mini-tote from Baggu is just the cuteness.

The contrasting pockets here are kind of mod-ish, but not in a costumey way.

This reminds me of Clare V’s (much more expensive) Grand Henri bag.

Another really summery Euro-preppy option.

Ten black dresses for summer

Black dresses are a cornerstone of my summer wardrobe, but I do try to nod to the season by wearing them with bright accessories, like my red No. 6 huaraches or an Antonello bag. Here are a few I like a lot, starting with one that’s a little surprising for me, as I never much go for corset belts. But the one here is so subtle, and the lines of the rest of the dress are so clean, that it works.

sweet neckline on an inexpensive, throw-it-on-and-go option.

I like that this feels kind of Grecian and breezy and romantic.

Sexy but also rather sweet.

Just the simplest V-neck t shirt dress.

very feminine, flowy plus-size option (I’m sorry, I know you don’t always like it when I single out the plus-size options, but I feel like I need to when you can’t discern from the model that this is the case).

I’m pretty sure I posted this excellent black floral from the Kooples before, but now it’s on sale, and how great is that?

I just like how very comfortable this one looks.

An  office-friendly choice, from Violeta, which is Mango’s pretty good plus-size line.

The  asymmetrical hem looks so striking on this otherwise quite straightforward dress.
