Six jackets with a utilitarian feel

I am very much liking this kind of item lately, and wish I could find an exact replica of the French workman’s jacket I picked up at a vintage store a little while back, because it is perfection with my current jeans-and-button-downs uniform. But jackets like this look fantastic mixed with femme-ier pieces, too, for a soft/hard contrast.  And speaking of femme, I love the little bit of flouce at the hem of this bomber.

There are so many cute-but-overpriced military jackets out there, and the truth is, you should never pay a lot for one: this shirt/jacket hybrid is perfect for days when you barely need a layer at all.

An obvious Rick Owens knock-off, but a pretty good one.

nice alternative to your standard-issue denim jacket.

The lines here are really interesting, but I also like that this looks extremely wearable and versatile.

camo print with a traditional denim jacket shape is pretty fun.

I would love to see photo of the vintage jacket that you picked up, Kim!

I have the Madewell jacket that’s on this list. It’s a nice, heavier denim … with a nice pleat in the back.

I have a jacket in this style that I bought ages ago–at least 10 or more years. I bring it out every spring. I find that its utility in my life is so limited, I have not needed to look for a replacement–it’s never going to wear out at this rate. But when it’s perfect, it’s perfect! (ps it’s old-school Eddie Bauer lol)

I have that Madewell jacket in an army green color, and it is the best. I’ve been wearing it non-stop all spring.

Semi-butch military/workmen jackets are worth their weight in gold in a girls wardrobe. These are all great – I am restraining myself from the j. crew one, as no one needs as many green jackets as I currently own.

that marissa webb jacket is really really cool. i would buy it in a sec if the price were right.

i like that rick owens knock off – the real ones don’t have that flattering faux belt in the back.
