GOACA home basics: Mugs

Tokyo Desugn Studio mug—mugs

I believe in filling life with nice little design moments,  and that extends to my choice in mugs: I own a motley assortment—no more than two match, but they are rich in color and pattern, and lately I’ve been looking to expand my collection. First up: I own several bowls by Tokyo Design Studio, and quite like their bright take on cups as well.

West Elm mug—Mugs

The blue-on-blue is cool, and I like the slightly midcentury feel here.

Missoni mug—mugs

A very excellent—and quite splurgy—option from Missoni.

Marimekko mug—mugs

Love these squished-together dots from Marimekko.

Red mug—mugs

Just a really good red, and an interestingly sculptural handle.

Le Creuset mug—mugs

And finally, who can resist this little bit of cuteness from Le Creuset?

Those Le Creuset mugs in red are on my continual one day list!

I have a couple Marimekko mugs with a different pattern, but same shape. Buy one! They are so pleasing in the hand, don’t look that big, yet hold a perfectly reasonable amount of coffee.

I also love handmade mugs from local potters. I’ve been learning how to throw pots in the past year and now some of my favorites are ones I have made.

Ah, grasshopper. You have come to understand the Japanese way, where dishes are things of beauty on their own, never bought as a set. Consider how each guest at the table can admire the dishes placed there for them, as unique as they are. are.

That first mug is beautiful. I so do not need any more mugs…but whoa.

And anything marimekko makes me happy
