I wasn’t quite sure about these army pants with floral embroidery when I saw them on The Great’s website. Patterned pants are never quite my thing, and the choice of flowers seemed especially twee. But, as it turns out, to wear them with an oversized white button-down—as I am at this very moment—is to feel like you’ve got a little bit of a look going on.
There are people who get upset when they see something they paid full price for heavily discounted, but this is true for me only some of the time. As long as I have gotten a lot of wear out of a piece—and this ultra-thin sweater currently super-marked down as part of the quite worth-checking-out sale going on right now at Maria Cornejo—very much qualifies as one of those items. As for the clothes that hang unworn in my closet, mocking me, well then I want to bang my head against the wall.
Well ladies, I’m back. And I had such a good time: there was hiking, as I mentioned there would be; and yoga that was more than a little above my (forever beginner) skill level; there was healthy, delicious food and there were lovely people and there was even bowling. And badminton on a great green lawn. And so, so many blossoming bushes of peonies. It was all enough to inspire one to browse the local real estate listings, and reader, I did. I’m having one of those it’s-never-too-late-to-change-everything moments, and this one stars a cozy house on a pretty street not too far from some woods where I can walk the dogs every day. Would I be bored out of my mind in the country? Very possibly yes. But it is a lovely fantasy. Meanwhile, please excuse me if I am not quite up to speed this week: I have vacation brain pretty bad.
A while back—in who knows which post—I mentioned I was working on a fun little project, and now I can announce that it is a collaboration with jewelry site Iconery. My wee collection is inspired by the intergalactic stylings of 60s pop artist Peter Max, and I’m pretty thrilled with how it turned out.
I cannot lie: it’s on the splurgy side. Decidedly on the splurgy side. But, as in the case of this pace diamond star necklace, so, so pretty.
Likewise this moon and stars ring, which is also available as a pendant.
And these star stud earrings are tiny little bursts of perfection, if I do say so.
Occasionally I surprise myself by liking something that feels stunningly far out of my wheelhouse, and right now that thing would be rainbow stripes. This rug, for instance, would probably look completely out of place in my home, but it delights me nevertheless.
If the colors were brighter on this top, it’s be altogether too overwhelming, but in washed-out hues it’s exactly right.
Happiest picnic blanket ever.
Everything about this shirt is totally up my alley: the killer color combo, the excellent star pattern, the slouchy-but-not-too-boxy cut. I keep going to Net A Porter just to stare at it.
