Cheap and chic of the week

dead ringer

I like embroidered tops best when they have the simplest of color palettes—they’re more graphic that way—and when they don’t cost a fortune, which way too many embroidered tops do. Here is a dead ringer for a much pricier specimen that Nili Lotan did last season.

The black background makes this one as totally wearable now as it will be when it warms up.

Almost too much embroidery, but somehow it works.

That last one is a little emroidery overload for me, but the first two are so good! Peasant tops are a wardrobe staple for me – they’re comfortable, flattering, versatile, with fun graphic interest (though now I’ve started asking myself “Is this too Sarah Pfefferman?” whenever I have the impluse to buy one!).

  2. Love them all but I’m a huge fan of embroidered anything. Love the first option, but in black.

Hippie tops are my downfall. I used to order them from somewhere in Mexico when I was a teenager. I wish I still had them all, even though they wouldn’t fit my right arm anymore.
