Prints of the week

co bigelow case

All my cosmetic cases are ratty and ancient, so I’ve been looking for a new one since I’m set to travel soon. But how to choose just one when there’s such an embarrassment of good patterns? Naturally I love this Japanese floral because it’s blue and black—one of my favorite color combos—and the oversized chain purse shape is a cute touch too.

Of course the one I want most is this splurgy number.

nordstrom bag

Black and white ikat with a quick pop of bright is rather fresh.

Top five of the week

the nerd

I have rarely liked cut of jeans as much as I do the slouchy skinny—and I have a drawer-full to prove it— but at a certain point in time, a girl’s got to change it up. Here are some denim specimens that are feeling particularly fresh to me. First up: a satisfyingly solid dark wash and cute cropped cut—with just a hint of flair—from my new favorite line, The Great.

This high rise straight crop jean feels quite 1970s Mom to me.

This pair is from Amo, a new denim line that everyone’s obsessing over. I’m liking the nifty twisted side seams.

Laugh if you will; I am wildly tempted by this cuffed trouser jean.

These would look fantastic come fall paired with a blazer.

Hop to it

triangle tank

I know we’re all slogging around in our lightest clothes at the moment, trying to perspire in as ladylike a fashion as we can manage in the blistering heat and humidity and dying for a breeze, any breeze. But Emerson Fry just posted the first half of their fall collection, and it would be remiss of me not to direct you to the goods immediately. Some of the pieces, like this nifty triangle tank, can be worn right away. I love how much this piece reminds me of that time in the early 2000s when I wore almost nothing but asymmetrically-hemmed tops and thought I looked like the shit.

tie up dress

Another good transitional piece: this black dress (which, like so many EF pieces, could not get more timeless and yet manages to read very current too) is calculated to flatter. And there’s an adjustable hem, which you can use to transform it into a little asymmetrical number.

yoshi sweater

An oversized short-sleeved sweater—meant to be worn over a long-sleeved tee—feels very classically EF.

moto frenchie

Coated trouser jeans with a nice matte finish for superior versatility.

Summer makeup update

Screen Shot 2015-08-24 at 6.02.27 PM

Tribeca Mom raved about this, and at first I was wary because it’s a lot of cash for the tiniest little bottle. But it creates the most natural flush of any cheek tint I’ve ever tried, and you use just the eensiest smudge so it’ll last forever.

Also from Perricone: a super-light, foolproof-even-for-me concealer.

Screen Shot 2015-08-24 at 6.11.36 PM

The best match for my skin tone in the history of ever, with a significantly higher SPF than my usual BB Cream.

A waterproof mascara that delivers on volume.

And a waterproof eyeliner that would stay put in a hurricane.
