So let’s do this

And by “this,” I mean a New York City meetup. The topic came up this summer in the comments and gained sufficient momentum among enough of you for me to decide it would likely be pretty fun. I’m thinking late October—like the week of the 19th. Are you in?

Wow! This is a little scary — online dating now leading to the real thing. What would I wear?

Autumn in New York is a classic. October 19ish may work for a trip back east.

  47. Jan says:

I’m in. For all those asking what to wear: Anything you bought via “Girls of a Certain Age”, of course!

  48. viajera says:

Good for you-all!!! I hope there is an Elks Lodge or something with a big meeting room. With couches. It’s gonna get loud! And you can drink mimosas. (Having to drive everywhere here means no drinkees. Bummer.)

  49. Meg says:

Jealous in Portland. I can’t wait to see the pictures, please post as many as possible. If I could go I’d have a tough time choosing what to wear: which pieces best represent my style. No pressure though, it’s not at all about measuring up to you other girls and I’d hope none of you would worry about that nonsense either. Have a lovely time, everyone!

    • viajera says:

Ditto. Maybe each person should wear their favorite thing in the world. Or their most Not Me thing. That thing that they’ve never actually worn.

Or, you could all do an animal print.

I would be a little sad if everyone wears black, but I won’t judge. I do that too. Very bad habit. And now my niece has noticed. Sh*t!!!!

It is a good thing I don’t live there or I’d try to talk you-all into a potluck. They are all participatory and whatnot.

  50. GT says:

Kim: I’m in too — that is, if you’ll have ladies over 50 without making us feel like dinosaurs (which I know you would never do). This is a great blog and a great community of sharp, funny, witty, stylish gals, so getting together with all these folks sounds superb.

Keep us posted on the details?

  51. SueM says:

Goldarnit! I am in New York for the first time in years (!) from the 16th to the morning of the 20th. Wouldn’t you know it. Have a wonderful time, you know so many of us will be there in spirit. Xo
