It’s Thanksgiving Eve

Turkey Float in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Which means it’s once again time to tell me what you guys are feeling grateful for this year. For me it’s all about family, and especially my mom, who has dealt with some tough times over the past months with unbelievable amounts of strength and grace. We all become mortified at times that we are turning into our moms; it’s a story as old as time. But lately I’ve seen a side of her that is so much better than anything I’ve shown the world that I can only pray it rubs off. Also, I’m wicked thankful for you guys, who turn this space into so much more than just words and pictures on a screen. You and you alone remain my muses. Have a fantastic holiday, and see you back here Monday.

Ditto. Family, friends, food, shelter, and good health for as long as possible. A beautiful planet and a quirky yet salvageable political system. I wish everyone could be so lucky, and with some work, maybe we’ll get there some day.

And I forgot to say, good for you for taking some time off. None of this shopping on Thanksgiving cr*p. It will all still be there next week, I feel fairly sure.

My Dad got a stem cell transplant in September and so far, it looks like it’s gotten rid of all of his cancer. He has totally new DNA and is basically a walking science experiment! So, I think that’s my one huge thankful that trumps everything else. Family, health and advances in medical science. 🙂
Thanks for writing your blog and putting all your awesomeness out there in the world! Have a great holiday.

I am thankful for my happy, healthy baby son. And for the fact that I am no longer pregnant.

I’m also so thankful to have found your blog, after missing your presence when you left Lucky. And for how much more of your voice I get to enjoy here. You are one of my favorite people I’ve never met. Happy Thanksgiving!

Last thanksgiving, I was stuck in a horrible job that had me completely miserable. But I got a new job in May, and it’s been fantastic. It’s a joy to go to work now and I’m very thankful for that.

I’m also thankful for you and Girls of a Certain Age. Like someone mentioned above, this world that you’ve created here is the highlight of my morning (other than coffee of course!)

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

    Hard to remember some days.
    Thanks kim.

I am thankful for my mom as well. I can’t imagine my life with out her in it. (She has had health concerns too this year, so far is ok). Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

Happy Thanksgiving, Kim! Like Kay above, I too, am thankful for a new job that has me happy to get out of bed each day. All good wishes to your lovely Mom. I always enjoy when she checks in here with a comment.

  12. EVE says:

I am speechless and incredibly touched.

I have a lot to be grateful for today, the birth of my new grandson 5 days ago and the full life I’m able to experience today. Reading your gratitude for your mom, her strength and grace, assures me that indeed, she has rubbed off on you. We all have chances to open places in us that have been closed but we can’t always let ourselves take the risk to let the love in. Life’s journey is interesting, and so is your blog, Kim. You’ve reinvented yourself in this life after Lucky! Thank you for all you’ve written in this past year.

I am grateful for a ton of stuff, my husband had some freakishly awful health problems that are much better.

But I love that I finally found a blog where we share a common understanding of the Famolare years.

  16. Maria says:

A bit late, but I’m so grateful for friends and family. And for the online “friends” that share their thoughts and joy with me, including you, Kim. Makes the community that supports us all that much bigger!

  17. Lisa Wallace says:

I hope your mom is @Eve…. But whatever her lovely name might be, sending thoughts that her tough times may soon transition. And thank you, Kim, for your depth and heart.

  18. Kristin says:

I’ thankful for modern pharmaceuticals for eradicating my cancer and for Benefit Cha Cha Ching that spares me from gray “cancer face.” 🙂 and, of course, for my 6 little ones and a husband who gets me.
