Gift guide! Part 3! Art Things!

Let that special music geek on your list be a walking Velvet Underground album cover with this Andy Warhol banana key chain.

Yayoi Kusama’s “I like myself”  tee: twice as cool and twenty times more affordable than anything you’d find in her Vuitton collaboration.

Who among us could argue with the sentiment behind this slick little Yoko Ono water bottle?

Like the coolest version of a collectible plate ever.

Doesn’t the time feel right for a full-on early 80s Keith Haring radiant baby revival?

Really quite stunning coasters by noted sculptor Louise Bourgeois, who hosted famous salons in her Chelsea townhouse, and lived a very long time.

This achingly beautiful Robert Mapplethorpe orchid candle is almost too much to take.

A very cool way to remind your dear friend that her nasty little habit is killing her, courtesy of Yoshimoto Nara.

I dig the eclectic collection of great gifts. The bright banana has a lot of a-peel. And the artsy ashtray is “to die for.” Pardon the poor puns; someone spiced my eggnog.

wow, all the objects are beautiful and thanks for clueing me in the gagosian sells collectibles, who knew? great resource find. D

  3. Yes to the Basquiat plate … but only for a really sophisticated almost-friend that you wish to take down a peg.
Yes to the Haring baby. Would this not be some literal fun on a line of maternity wear?
And yes to the Mapplethorpe inspired candle and to the Yoshimoto Nara ashtray because they are just beautiful and just sweet-natured respectively.

I love your comment — if someone got that plate for me, I would completely miss the takedown!!! I love hearing about stuff like that.

I like that tee shirt. It really does feel a little bit revolutionary for a woman to say she likes herself. And wearing what appears to be an eccentric outfit, to boot. Now, would I feel weird wearing a photo of another woman, saying that about herself? Hmm.

I like the coasters a lot too. All of it really.

I know this is supposed to be a GIFT guide, but I have been forever searching for coasters that my uber-picky designer husband will sign off on, and I think we have a winner! Just lovely.
