Who’s Going to IFB?

Ladies! Any of you attending the Independent Fashion Bloggers conference next week in New York? Because on Wednesday the 5th, I’m on a panel about Journalism vs. Blogging—a topic about which I have a thought or two. You MUST come, and afterward, you absolutely must introduce yourself.

  1. Would post your notes on your panel topic? I’d love to hear your take.

    Have a marvelous long weekend!

  2. Donna says:

I would have loved to come but I couldn’t afford it this year. I’m looking forward to reading about it, though.

I wish I could be there, but I am in Florida now. This topic is of particular interest to me because I am a fashion journalist, trained in the trenches at Fairchild. While I enjoy looking at fashion blogs, I find most of them to be pure entertainment or essentially shopping guides. There are too many “gifted” items that appear on fashion blogs for there to be any hint of objectivity. While some contain street-style shots that are more journalistic in nature, most are personal style blogs that promote the creators’ styling talents and the designs they are wearing. Of course, all of this creative freedom is refreshing, fun and enjoyable, but it is not, in most cases, journalism.

Have a great time! Wish I could be there. You give good blog.
